Rolex Sea-Dweller Deepsea Watch

The number of undersea missions increased from the 1960s onwards, and they took on a new format. Divers were now not only faced with longer immersion times during saturation dives, but also with diving to greater depths. The professional watches designed for them therefore needed to be able to withstand ever-increasing pressure.
Guaranteed waterproof to a depth of 610 metres (2,000 feet) when it was launched in 1967, then to 1,220 metres (4,000 feet) from 1978, the Sea‑Dweller combines all the attributes of the modern divers’ watch.

Rolex was founded by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davis in London, England in 1905 as Wilsdorf and Davis, Rolex moved its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland in 1919.
Rolex first started experimenting with mechanical chronographs during the 1930s, but it was not until 1963, with the introduction of the reference 6239, that an actual name was given to their chronograph line of watches.
Although many consider this reference to be the first Daytona, it was not until almost 1965 that the “Daytona” name actually made its debut appearance on the dial. In those two years before the addition of the Daytona name, Rolex’s chronograph line was known simply as the “Cosmograph” – a name that still remains on the Daytona dials that are manufactured today.
Rolex has three watch lines: Oyster Perpetual, Professional and Cellini (the Cellini line is Rolex’s line of “dress” watches). The primary bracelets for the Oyster line are named Jubilee, Oyster, President, and Pearlmaster. The watch bands on the models are usually either stainless steel, yellow gold, white gold, or rose gold.
